FUN WITH TJAPS – EXPLANATION

STUDENTS SHOULD BRING 8 ROUND, 1” FLAT BRUSHES

ANYONE AND EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO THIS CLASS – BEGINNERS AND ADVANCED STUDENTS ALIKE….THERE WILL BE SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!

TJAP (PRONOUNCED ‘CHOP’) STAMPS ORIGINATE FROM INDONESIA, WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN USED FOR CENTURIES. THESE INDONESIAN TJAP STAMPS ARE METICUOUSLY MADE BY HAND FROM COPPER STRIPS, EACH WOUND INTO INTRICATE, FASCINATING DESIGNS, AND ARE USED FOR BATIKING. AS A MATTER OF FACT, THESE STAMPS ARE SO BEAUTIFUL THAT I USE THEM TO DECORATE MY HOME WHEN I’M NOT USING THEM!

IN THIS CLASS, YOU’LL LEARN, NOT ONLY THE ORIGINAL METHOD OF USING THE TJAPS, BUT MY OWN CREATIVE USES AS WELL! THE STRUCTURE OF THIS CLASS WILL NOT BE LIKE ONE OF MY REGULAR BATIK CLASSES……. I’LL DO DEMOS AND GIVE IDEAS, THEN STUDENTS WILL HAVE TIME TO DO AS MANY OF THE PROJECTS AS THEY WISH!

THE ATMOSPHERE WILL BE RELAXED AND OPEN, WHERE STUDENTS CAN REMAIN AT THEIR TABLE AND WORK, OR ROAM TO WORK STATIONS FOR ADDITIONAL PROJECTS.
