Heart
of Ohio Tole is a chapter of the international
organization: the Society of Decorative Painters. A unique
feature of HOOT and SDP is teaching
decorative painting in a
step-by-step process. We share the methods of all media (oil,
acrylic, and watercolor) ranging from folk art, faux finishing, still
life, and florals on functional pieces to canvases.Painting Classes!
The Columbus Libraries have started a new program for the summer "I've Always Wanted To Do That". This is a program aimed at adults who want to learn a new hobby. They asked HOOT to join them in providing a painting class for interested patrons.
Jackie Dodd, a One Stroke Certified Painting Instructor, volunteered to teach these classes. Jackie enjoys sharing her love of painting with her students and provide them with a fun and enjoyable class. She also wants to inform the community about HOOT and our convention.
Jackie's first class was at the West Jefferson library where she had 21 adults in class. Most were first time painters. Jackie strived to give each person special attention. In this class students painted dasies on Thank You cards. We have three more classes on the calendar where students will be painting wildflowers on bookmarks, rosebuds on cards, and hydrangeas on a picture frame.
If your group or club would be interested in a fun evening of painting, please contact us at the HOOT office or through Jackie's e-mail address. Please use "Learn To Paint" as your subject line. Jackie's e-mail is: artstrokes@aol.com, and the HOOT e-mail address is: hoot626@wowway.com.
